Mind of a Winner

Exactly how regularly did you hear a genuine champion talk with doubt? Just how regularly did you hear a fighter say, "It will be a difficult battle, we've got to hang fire until Sat. And see exactly how it all works out"? Never ever, simply because uncertainty will knock you out before you begin.
The
sports athletes that are appreciated usually are always the ones that performed memorably in events of pressure. I say memorably because they might be appreciated for choking or rising to the occasion. Just about any individual that has played competitive sports understands that there is a different experience in a play-off game, however as with all things in life, that by itself is not such an horrible thing, it's all in the way you manage it. People are disturbed not by things but by the view they take of them-- Epictetus 200AD If you let self-doubt enter your consciousness, hysteria is certain to grow. After you start to question irrespective of whether you are actually capable of winning you are on the way to disaster as the mind can only hold one thought at a time. You are either considering winning, and visualizing what winning will be like, or you have worries about what will happen if you don't win. You can only hold one picture at a time. Sure some athletes waver back and forth, but at any categorical time you can only ever be holding one thought. The mind should be given direction and then it works towards making that given destination a proven fact. The mind is solidly targeting at results, the problem is what directions are we giving the mind. To become a champion, you need to first look and act like a champion.
-- Muhammad Ali Some people say you can't control what comes into your thoughts. I believe with the right training your can. Regardless of whether or not you can or can't control what enters your wits you can control how long you hold any thought that does enter into your consciousness. If a seagull comes to a choice to have a bowel movement while flying overhead, you cannot exactly control that but you sure the hell can control how quick you clean yourself off. It is the same with your wits. When a deleterious thought enters, clean it out with a wave of positive images.
Concentrate on what you want, not upon what you don't need. Target winning, not on not losing. Not what you may acknowledge, but what would be perfect. -- Denis Waitley. Street Soccer,Street Football,Soccer.
