It is obviously better to write it out 10 or 20 times, even more if you can handle writing for that long. The reason for doing this is that it trains your mind to think like a copywriter. This exercise also trains you to write like one, and it has a way of cutting down on the time normally required.

Novice copywriters typically have very little material to show prospective clients. By creating a portfolio, you will be able to share your information with others very easily. Writing on spec may be your best bet when building a portfolio. You are, in essence, working for free unless they happen to pay you out of kindness. If these companies like your work, they will pay you, so they can add what you have written to their website. If you don't get paid, at least you will have the experience under your belt doing this type of work. Either way, it will be a valuable experience. Yes, it takes a lot of hard work to succeed as a copywriter, and honestly most people are not cut out for it.

There is a lot to the copywriting industry, especially when it comes to trust. You need to protect reputation at all costs if you want to have consistent business. You need to be punctual with the jobs that you get. If you are late continuously, people will start to associate this with your reputation. That can be the kiss of death for a writer of any kind.
